Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

Bakersfield, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes completed a 5-1 road trip with a 6-2 win over the Bakersfield Blaze on Thursday night at Sam Lynn Ballpark in Bakersfield.

Quakes' starter Garrett Richards (3-1) turned in his second straight solid outing, allowing just two unearned runs over five innings. Dillon Baird and Luis Jimenez led the way offensively, as each had three hits and combined to drive in four runs.

The Quakes took an early 2-0 advantage over Blaze starter Robbie Ross (4-3) in the first, as Baird's two-out infield single plated a pair of runs.

Rancho built a 3-0 lead in the second, as Jimenez doubled home Mike Trout with two outs.

Baird struck again in the fourth, as he doubled home Angel Castillo for a 4-0 lead. Darwin Perez's RBI groundout later plated Baird to make it 5-0.

The Quakes capped their scoring in the fifth, as Eric Oliver doubled and later scored on Perez's RBI single, making it 6-0.

A Perez error led to a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth, as the Blaze pulled to within four at 6-2.

That's as close as the Blaze would get though, as Christian Scholl and Baudilio Lopez combined to work the final four innings of scoreless baseball.

The win for the Quakes (31-28, 70-59) keeps them with a share of first place, as they're now tied with High Desert atop the South Division Second Half Standings.

The Quakes return to The Epicenter, opening the final home stand of the regular season on Friday night. Orangel Arenas (6-3) takes on Lancaster lefty Patrick Urckfitz (5-8) in the series-opener. Friday night is First Responder's Night, as well as another $1 Family Feast Night, as fans will enjoy $1 Hot Dogs, $1 Coca-Cola Products and $1 Ice Cream Sandwiches, thanks to KFROG 95.1. First Responder's Night includes the Quakes honoring the Inland Empire's Fire Fighters, Law Enforcement and First Response Teams. Gates open at 6:05pm and tickets are available by calling (909) 481-5000 or online at rcquakes.com. Go Quakes!
