Rancho Cucamonga, CA- After a heartbreaking loss on Tuesday night, the Quakes fell behind against High Desert on Wednesday. Tyson Gillies led off the game with a double down the right field line, went to third on a ground out and Alex Liddi brought him home with an RBI groundout to take a 1-0 lead.

The Quakes would respond in the home half of the 1st as Andrew Romine singled with one out and Abel Nieves followed with a two-run homer, his first of the year, to give the Quakes the lead 2-1.

Rancho got back on the board in the 4th as Efren Navarro and Jay Brossman hit back-to-back home runs to grab a 4-1 lead.

The Quakes broke the game open in the 7th as major league rehabber Torii Hunter singled with one out before Andrew Romine drove him in with an RBI triple. After Abel Nieves walked, Efren Navarro doubled into right center field to score both runners to take a 7-1 lead. With two outs, Jeremy Moore tripled into the right field corner to score Navarro and give the Quakes an 8-1 lead.

Rancho added three more runs in the 8th as Torii Hunter blasted a three-run homer off the batter's eye in center field to give the Quakes an 11-1 advantage. Hunter finished the day 2x5 with a homerun, a single, three RBI and two runs scored.

Quakes starter Jayson Miller was outstanding, tossing a season high eight innings of one run ball allowing just four hits. Jeremy Haynes pitched a scoreless 9th.

The Quakes will finish their three game set with High Desert on Thursday. Left hander Manuel Flores will pitch for the Quakes against left hander Donnie Hume for the Mavericks. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
