(LANCASTER, CA) - Orangel Arenas stifled Lancaster's offense, limiting the JetHawks to five hits and no runs in eight innings of work, as Rancho Cucamonga earned a 5-0 victory in the opener of a three-game series at Clear Channel Stadium Wednesday. Luis Jimenez smacked a solo home run off JetHawks starter Dallas Keuchel with two outs in the top of the first, which gave the Quakes a 1-0 edge.

Keuchel (4-7) recovered to pitch five scoreless innings after the opening frame and the game had all the makings of a classic pitchers' duel.

But the Quakes seized control of the contest by scoring three runs off Lancaster reliever David Duncan in the top of the seventh. Jesus Campos hit an RBI single and Clay Fuller followed with a two-run double to extend Rancho Cucamonga's lead to 4-0.

Arenas (3-1) never allowed the JetHawks offense to get comfortable at the plate. In five of his eight innings pitched, Arenas faced the minimum before retiring the side.

With the loss, the JetHawks fell to 5-9 in the second half and 28-56. Rancho Cucamonga improved to 8-6 and 47-37 overall.

The JetHawks will attempt to even the series when the two teams meet Thurssday. Lancaster will start lefty Patrick Urckfitz (4-2, 3.08 ERA). Rancho Cucamonga is expected to counter with lefty Patrick Corbin (3-2, 3.26 ERA). First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. Tune in for all the live action beginning with the JetHawks Pre-Game Show at 6:45 p.m. on www.jethawks.com/csn and News Talk 1380-AM.
