Quad City Steamwheelers Notes/Story Ideas It's Time For Some Football: Training camp is over, the final cuts have been made and starting this Friday the Quad City Steamwheelers will kick off their seventh season in the arenafootball2 league. The Steamwheelers will open against the Arkansas Twisters on OS Field at The MARK of the Quad Cities at 7:15 p.m.
Twisters Invading Quad Cities: The Quad City Steamwheelers own a 5-0 all-time record against the Twisters. The last meeting between these two squads was in June of 2004 and the Steamwheelers left Arkansas with a 54-29 victory.
Welcome Back to Iowa: Art Haege, the defensive coordinator for the Arkansas Twisters, is the father of former Steamwheelers headman, Frank Haege. Art is a Peoria, Ill., native and attended college at St. Ambrose University where he was an All-American Honorable Mention tight-end and defensive end. During the offseason, he resides in Iowa.
Following in his brother's footsteps: Usually it is the younger brother in the siblings' shadow, but for Bo Smith it is reversed. Smith's younger brother, Chad Johnson, is an All-Pro receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League. Smith, who caught 19 touchdown passes in nine games at Bossier City last season, says that his younger brother has influenced him most in life.
Brothers-In-Arms: Speaking of brothers, the Quad City Steamwheelers have a pair of brothers working in their front office. For the fourth season, Vice President of Sales Shawn Brown and his younger brother Darren, Game Operations Manager, will be working side-by-side in the front office. The brothers from Burlington, Iowa were reunited by the Steamwheelers after Shawn moved back to the Quad Cities after spending time working in Fort Wayne, Ind., and Minneapolis, Minn.

At each luncheon, information about the upcoming game and important announcements regarding the coverage of the Steamwheelers will be discussed. Also, a representative from the coaching staff and several players will be available for interviews and to take questions from the media. If you plan on attending the luncheon and have a specific person you would like to interview, please send us a request and we will try to arrange for the person to appear at the luncheon.
