Louisville Fire News Release
2006 KICK-OFF: The Fire will kick-off the 2006 season this Friday night in Wilkes-Barre, PA against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers. The Fire will open on the road for the second straight season. The Fire and the Pioneers have met three times with the Fire holding a 2-1 series advantage. The two teams met last April in Wilkes-Barre with the Fire winning 58-50. The game will kick-off at 7:00 P.M.
QUARTERBACK BATTLE: The Fire has narrowed the roster down, but the battle for starting quarterback is still unsettled. Brett Dietz and last season's back-up Joel Steele are still battling for the starting job. Both have big shoes to fill replacing the 2005 Offensive Player of the Year Matt Sauk, who is now with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.
LOCAL FLAVOR ON THE ROSTER: The 2006 opening roster has a lot of ties to Kentucky and Indiana. The following players attended college in Kentucky or Indiana:
