Quad City Steamwheelers News Release

Another Record Night for Hicks: Tim Hicks has been busy placing his name in the Quad City Steamwheeler record books this season. The quarterback threw for 365 yards (third all-time in yards passing) against both Albany and Arkansas. His eight touchdown performance against Albany is tied for second all-time in the Quad City record books. Hicks also threw for seven touchdown passes in his Steamwheelers debut against Arkansas, which is the third most touchdown passes thrown in a game. In addition Hicks is second in pass completions with 30 against Arkansas, the 29 he threw against Albany is tied for third most completions in a game. Finally, the Evensville, Tenn., native is tied for second in pass attempts with 46 against Albany and holds the third position with 44 versus Arkansas.

Immediate Impact: David Hurst made an immediate impact on the Steamwheelers roster as he caught one pass and ran it in for a 10 yard touchdown with 17 seconds remaining before halftime to give Quad City a 36-33 halftime advantage.

1 out of 3: Odds are if you see Bo Smith catching a pass he is taking it into the end zone and doing one of his famed celebratory dances. Smith is currently leading the team with eight touchdown passes on 27 receptions. That equates to one touchdown about every three catches or 33% of his catches being taken in for a score.

Looking for number 75: The Quad Cities Steamwheelers have been waiting to celebrate their 75th regular season victory for awhile now. The Steamwheelers have dropped their first four regular season games to open the season, a franchise worst. Also dating back to last season the team has lost its last five regular season games and haven't won in their past six tries.

Coast-to-Coast: The Quad City Steamwheelers will fly to Fresno, Calif., continuing their trip from the east coast to the west coast. By the time the team touches down in Fresno on Friday, they will have spent over 2,944 miles in the air this week.

The Coyotes: Life will not be getting any easier for Quad City as they travel to face the Central Valley Coyotes this weekend. The Coyotes are currently ranked #11 in the af2 weekly coaches poll and are led by quarterback Scott Rislov who has thrown for 24 touchdowns and 984 yards in four games. Rislov is fourth in the af2 in pass completion percentage (70.5) and sixth in passing touchdowns (24). Defensively, Maurice Taylor is their best defender leading the team with 18 total tackles and nine pass breakups. Taylor is also tied for first in interceptions with three. The Steamwheelers are 2-0 all-time versus Central Valley, however, both wins came when they were playing in Bakersfield as the Bakersfield Blitz.
