Quad City Outlasts Green Bat

An Eastern Conference clash of the Quad City Steamwheelers hosting the Green Bay Blizzard. Quad City will be looking for a jumpstart after last week's loss while Green Bay had momentum for a playoff push.

Off the jump, QB E.J. Hilliard found WR Kevyan "Stud" Rudd alone for the score. PAT good, Wheelers 7-0.

The first offensive series for Green Bay went nowhere, setting up a field goal attempt that was no good.

Quad City back on the field had Hilliard capping off the drive to pick up his 19th rushing touchdown on the season. PAT good, Wheelers 14-0.

Needing to find an answer, QB Max Meylor connected with WR Steve Newbold for the touchdown. PAT good, Wheelers 14-7.

A broken coverage play on the goal line had Rudd alone for his second score of the first half. PAT good, Wheelers 21-7.

Right off the rip, Meylor launched a deep touchdown pass to WR Marquise Irvin. PAT good, Wheelers 21-14.

The Steamwheeler offense capped off their next drive with a jet sweep to Rudd for another score. PAT good, Wheelers 28-14.

WR Mike Green II took the kick off the length of the field to paydirt. PAT good, Wheelers 28-21. Hilliard put a fade ball right into the hands of WR Jeremiah Holloman in the endzone. PAT good, Wheelers 35-21.

A last second possession before half was completed by a Meylor rushing score for the Blizzard, cutting the lead to seven. PAT good, Wheelers 35-28.

Starting the second half, DL Samuele Hammond and DE Jaylin Swan came up with back-to-back sacks. A long field goal attempt, no good.

A 26-yard pass to Rudd led to a RB Shane Simpson touchdown the next play. PAT good, Wheelers 42-28.

Down two possessions, Meylor marched his offense down the field for a Irvin score. PAT good, Wheelers 42-35.

Hilliard pump faked and walked his way into the end zone to end the 3rd Quarter. PAT good, Wheelers 49-35.

Another QB draw from Meylor sought out the endzone after hurdling a QC defender. PAT good, Wheelers 49-42.

The Quad City offense extended their lead back to double digits after a Simpson rushing score. PAT good, Wheelers 56-42.

Late in the 4th Quarter, a 23-yard pass to Irvin for the touchdown made this game still in reach for Green Bay. PAT good, Wheelers 56-49.

In a clock management situation, Hilliard picked up his hat trick rushing touchdown in tonight's game and the score went back to double digits. PAT good, Wheelers 63-49.

Penalty trouble for the Steamwheelers put Green Bay in the position to capitalize with a Meylor to Newbold score. PAT Wheelers 63-56.

The Quad City Steamwheelers extend their record to 7-3 on the season and will be heading into their bye week on top. They will be on the road to Green Bay on June 9, a 7:05 kick off for the second of the third series match up.
