CLEARWATER, Fla. - Andrew Pullin stayed hot at the plate on Thursday, extending his hit streak to a season-high 13 consecutive games as the Threshers suffered a 4-0 loss to the Dunedin Blue Jays at Bright House Field.
Pullin punched a double to right field in the sixth inning, and finished 2-for-3 with a walk. The 22-year-old outfielder is 20-for-52 (.385) over his last 13 games, including five doubles, two triples, and a home run.
Clearwater (37-28) ran into an electric arm in 20-year-old Sean Reid-Foley (1-0).
Reid-Foley limited the Threshers to just two hits and three walks across seven shutout innings, amassing a career-high 12 strikeouts.
JD Davis opened the ballgame with an opposite-field home run on the second pitch of the night from John Richy, giving Dunedin (29-37) a quick 1-0 lead.
Richy (1-2) battled through five innings and limited the Blue Jays to just two runs - one earned - on three hits and three walks.
Dunedin added its second run in the fifth. Gunnar Heidt walked, stole second, and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Chace Numata. He would cross the plate on a sacrifice fly by Davis.
Heidt's home run off Victor Arano in the seventh inning extended the Threshers deficit to 3-0. A Ryan McBroom sac fly in the eighth capped the scoring.
Troy Tulowitzki started and played seven innings at shortstop in a rehab appearance for Dunedin, finishing 1-for-4 with a single.
