Marauders Enter Break with Win

Bradenton, FL - The Marauders (36-29) won their final game before the All-Star break, topping the Fort Myers Miracle (31-35) by a final of 6-2.

Kevin Newman carried the torch offensively for the Marauders. He went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, sacrifice fly, and a career-high 5 RBI's.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning. Cole Tucker (2-for-4, 3B, 2 R) led off the inning with the Marauders first hit of the game, which was a triple down the right field line. Newman followed that up with a sacrifice fly to right to give the Marauders a 1-0 lead.

The Marauders broke things open in the bottom of the fifth. Taylor Gushue (2-for-3, HR, 2B, BB) belted a solo home run to right field to make it 2-0. Later in the inning, Newman hit a bases-clearing triple to make it 5-0 Marauders.

Newman added a fifth RBI in the bottom of the seventh with a single to left field that made it 6-0.

The Miracle got on the board in the top of the eighth on an RBI groundout by Trey Vavra (1-for-4, RBI).

RHP Yeudy Garcia (2-4) tossed 5.1 scoreless innings allowing only 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out 6.

Miracle righty Keaton Steele (2-6) went the first 6 innings giving up 5 hits, 5 runs (2 earned), a walk and 5 strikeouts.

UP NEXT: The Marauders are off for the All-Star weekend...They return to action Monday night at McKechnie Field against the Jupiter Hammerheads....First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
