Dayton Demolition News Release
Dayton, OH - In the eleventh battle of the Port Huron Prowlers and the Dayton Demolition, it was a back-and-forth battle with a couple of ties and lead changes, until the Prowlers shut down the Dayton Demolition offense in the 3rd to pick up another win.
The Prowlers get on the board first at the 7:36 mark of the 1st, when Justin Alonzo scores in the slot past Jason Torf. Alonzo (19th goal) is helped by Dustin Skinner on the first goal of the game. Port Huron adds another tally in the 1st with Roger Tagoona's slide to the left. Alonzo tags along for the ride with his second point and 31st assist of the season on Tagoona's 12th. Late in the first period, Jacques Lamoureux and the Demolition cut the deficit down to one with a delayed penalty goal. Jesse Felten, in front of the Prowlers' bench, finds Lamoureux in traffic to bury the slot-blast for his third score. The Prowlers led 2-1 after one.
The Wrecking Crew battled to start the 2nd Period, tying the game at 2-2 early on from Scott Kozlak's moves. Kozlak zigged and zagged for his fourth goal of the year, on assists from Lamoureux and Martin Uhnak at the 2:40 mark. Shortly after the Kozlak goal, Chris Leveille joins in on the scoring party for the first time tonight. Leveille's 18th tally was drawn up by the minds of Dustin Skinner and Jared Hicks. Port Huron led 3-2 until the 14:57 mark, with Harry Mahesh storming the net for his eighth offering. Mahesh's blast was assisted by Mike Henderson and Cody Milligan to tie things up once more in the 2nd at 3-3. Port Huron had one more in the offensive sleeves, with Leveille's second drill from Jared Hicks. The Prowlers led 4-3 after 40:00 played.
Port Huron ices the game away from the Demolition in the third with two more goals. Dustin Skinner drags the puck to the far face-off circle for a Power Play goal. With five seconds elapsed on the Demolition Penalty Kill, Skinner notched his 25th goal of the season, along with the passing of Hicks and Chris Leveille. With the last score of the game on a 4-on-4 situation, Jason Pietrasiak ropes a skimmer down to Julian Fraser, who muscles his way past a pair of defenders to bury his second tally of the year. The Prowlers held the Demolition offense scoreless, with twenty shots being turned away. The Prowlers won 6-3 in regulation.
Port Huron improves to 22-7 on the year, also improving to 11-0 vs. the Dayton crew. The loss dropped the Demolition down to 7-18-3. Andi DiCristofaro records 41 saves in his 16th win of the season. Jason Torf knocks away 27 saves in his debut for the Demolition.
Dayton now travels to Port Huron Sunday afternoon to battle the Prowlers for the 12th time this season. The Demolition return home on February 5th against the Danville Dashers. For tickets and broadcasting information, visit demolitionhockey.com.
