
Prowlers Make a Trade with Demolition

PORT HURON, MI | The Prowlers made a trade late last week with the Dayton Demolition. The Prowlers traded the rights to defenseman Brian Marks and, in turn, acquired rights to defenseman Jeff Sanders and forward Valdyslav Gavrik.
The 24 year-old Valdyslav Gavrik, is a native of Ukraine. Gavrik is a powerhouse of a forward standing 6'4" and weighing in at 220 lbs. He played last season in the FHL for the Berkshire Battalion and the Danbury Whalers recording a total of 20 goals, 22 assists, and 42 points in 42 games. Prior to the FHL, Gavrik played four years at Skidmore College NCAA Division III, finishing with 34 goals and 71 points in 99 games played. Gavrik also had the honor of representing his country four times in international play: three times for the IIHF World Junior Championship (WJC-18 & WJC-20), and once this past off season for IIHF World Championship (WC) Div 1A for Ukraine recording 1 goal in 5 games.
The second player in trade is defenseman Jeff Sanders, a native of San Jose, CA. Sanders played 3 years at Utah State University ACHA before making the jump to professional hockey in 2013, where he opted to play overseas in Europe. Last season Sanders played in the FHL and totaled 7 goals, 36 assists and 43 points in 48 games played with the Berkshire Battalion. Sanders is a good sized defenseman standing 6'2" who is a strong skater, effectively plays the body and handles the puck well.
Both players are big additions for the Prowlers this off season and will be make a impact in the line up opening night. Single game tickets will be on sale this Sunday, September 20th at the McMorran Place Arena Box Office and available on Ticketmaster.
