
Providence Takes Game Two, Series Tied 1-1

PROVIDENCE, RI - The Providence Bruins earned a 2-1 victory over the Portland Pirates on Friday night in Game 2 of the Atlantic Division Semifinal at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The best-of-seven is tied 1-1 with Game 3 set for Sunday in Portland at 4:00 p.m.
After a scoreless first period, the Bruins opened the scoring at the 2:01 mark on Vladimir Sobotka's 1st goal of the postseason. Sobotka picked up a feed from Bruins' forward Brad Marchand and streaked down the right wing wall before sneaking a wrist shot under the left arm of Jhonas Enroth. Assists on the goal were credited to Johnny Boychuck and Brad Marchand.
In third period, Pirates captain Tyler Bouck evened the scored on a wrist shot from the top of the left wing circle that snuck over the glove of Tuukka Rask. The 1st goal of the postseason for Tyler Bouck was assisted by Derek Whitmore.
At the 10:32 mark of the third period, Bruins' forward Jeremy Reich broke the tie with a laser from the high slot that whistled past the glove of Jhonas Enroth and into the twine.
In the final minute, the Pirates pulled Jhonas Enroth for the extra attacker but the Bruins held on for the 2-1 win.
Portland's Jhonas Enroth made 38 in the loss. Providence's Tuukka Rask made 27 saves in the win.

Notes: Jhonas Enroth had his shutout streak snapped at 82:01, passing Pirates playoff franchise record of 77:53 set by Ron Tugnutt in 1996. The Pirates are now 11-11 in Game 2 of a playoff series. Providence had dropped five straight playoff games, all to the Pirates, since a 7-1 win in Game 2 of the teams' Atlantic Division Finals match-up in 2008. Attendance: 6,040.
