Promotional Schedule Released for 2013 Season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns announced the team's 2013 promotional schedule, including a mix of great giveaways and fan-favorite entertainment.

The Suns return to the field and share the excitement of professional baseball with fans to kick off the 2013 season. The Suns begin their regular season on Thursday, April 4, with a Peter D. Bragan Sr. Commemorative Giveaway. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Talking Bobblehead modeled after the late Suns Owner. Fans can also receive a Magnet Schedule and Fireworks on Friday, April 5 and ALL fans receive a Bragan Field Baseball on Saturday, April 6.

For the first time since 2003 the brightest stars throughout the Southern League will be on display at the Baseball Grounds as the Suns host the 2013 Southern League All-Star Game on Wednesday July 17. All-Star festivities begin on Tuesday July 16 with a special All-Star Gala and MLB All-Star Game watch party at the Jacksonville Landing. The Southern League All-Stars will be on hand and the public is invited to watch the Big League All-Star Game on the videoboard in the Landing Courtyard. Wednesday July 17 begins with the All-Star Game FanFest at Bragan Field and continues with the Southern League Homerun Derby. First Pitch of the 2013 Southern League All-Star Game is scheduled for 7:05pm on Wednesday as well.

The Baseball Grounds will again host a number of celebrities and great entertainment acts this season. Miami Marlins mascot Billy the Marlin returns to Jacksonville along with Myron Noodleman to help Southpaw celebrate his birthday on Saturday, April 20 when ALL KIDS can also receive a Southpaw Jersey Pillow. The ZOOperstars make three appearances with their kooky characters on Saturday May 11, Wednesday July 17 and Saturday August 17, while BirdZerk goes berserk with a special Southern League All-Star game performance on Wednesday July 17. Elvis Himselvis will once again perform all your favorites on May 23, 24 and 25 while everybody's favorite principal, Mr. Belding, visits Bragan Field on Friday June 14. The Suns also host three Bark in the Park Nights on Saturday, April 20, Saturday May 11 and Saturday June 15, as well as two Dog Daze of Summer on Sunday, July 28 and Sunday, August 4.

The Suns have put together another great series of giveaways this season. There will be two t-shirt giveaways this season beginning with World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party T-Shirts on Saturday, April 27 followed by Pink T-shirts for ALL ladies on Saturday, May 11, the night before Mother's Day as the Suns raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer. Randy Johnson, a member of the late-80's Jacksonville Expos, will have a bobblehead on Saturday, June 22; and Jacksonville native, switch hitting Atlanta Brave Chipper Jones dons his Bolles jersey on a bobblehead giveaway on Saturday, June 29. The 1st 3,000 fans will receive a Mike Stanton Jersey Pen and Pencil Holder on Saturday, June 15 and a Commemorative Replica of Bragan Field will be given away to the first 3,000 fans on Friday, August 30.

The Suns will also have two former Atlanta Braves player appearances with Dale Murphy on Friday, May 10 and John Rocker on Thursday, June 6!

The Suns have a remarkable set of postgame events slated for the 2013 season. Lil' Kato and Beautiful Bobby Dean return to battle for the Pot "˜O Gold in the Leprechaun World Wrestling Championship on Friday July 12. Saturday, July 13 will feature a special encore wrestling match between Lil' Kato and Bobby as well as Ladies and Tag-Team matches. The Suns host two Family Faith Nights as well. Friday, May 24 will feature a Francesca Battistelli postgame concert and Friday, August 30 will feature a Jason Crabb postgame concert. Bragan Field will host a Family Faith Day Sunday, July 14 and The George Aspinall Band will play on Jimmy Buffet Night on Saturday, August 3.

The Suns have four Jersey Auction Nights for the 2013 season. The first will be held on Saturday, May 25 as the Suns sport a Navy Digital Blue Camo Jersey, then on Saturday, June 22 the Suns will wear a Powder Blue Jacksonville Expos Jersey. A special Patriotic Red, White and Blue Jersey will be worn on Wednesday July 3 and a Buffett-Style Jersey on Saturday August 3.

The Suns will once again share holidays throughout the season as the Suns pay tribute to military service members past and present on Sunday, May 26 with a Pre-Memorial Day Fireworks Show. The holidays continue as we honor our country with a giant Pre-4th of July fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3. Finally the Suns will celebrate Labor Day weekend with other fireworks spectacular on Sunday, September 1.

The Suns' traditional weekly promotions return for the 2013 season, including Fifty Cent Family Feast Tuesdays, Businessperson's Specials on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday Night Throwdown, Friday Family Fireworks, and postgame Kids Run the Bases on most Sundays. Following the success of the past three seasons, Monday evening games are Belly Buster Mondays, where $20 gets fans a Homeplate Box seat along with all-you-can-eat hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, ice cream treats and soft drinks.

The Jacksonville Suns are the Double-A Affiliate of the Miami Marlins and are proud members of the Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs. The Suns begin the season on Thursday, April 4 against the Jackson Generals.
