Pro Hockey Returns To Vegas October 21

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Wranglers will kick off their inaugural season at the state-of-the-art Orleans Arena on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 against the Bakersfield Condors. The schedule for the Wranglers' first season in the 32-team ECHL was released today, and it includes 72 games against 13 different ECHL opponents.

After completing a three-game road swing to start the season, the Wranglers will be back at the Orleans Arena for an eight-game home stand, featuring tilts against five out of the six other Western Division teams. Las Vegas will play an unbalanced schedule, with a majority of their games against the Western Division teams. The Wranglers will be a part of the seven-team Western Division of the Western Conference, which will include the Anchorage Aces, the Bakersfield Condors, the Fresno Falcons, the Long Beach Ice Dogs, the San Diego Gulls, and the Idaho (Boise) Steelheads, all of whom will be in their first season as a member of the ECHL. Other new entrants to the league include the Gwinnett (Georgia) Gladiators and the Texas (Beaumont) Wildcatters.

Las Vegas hockey rivalries with the Long Beach Ice Dogs, San Diego Gulls and Peoria Rivermen will be rekindled. All were members of the International Hockey League along with the Las Vegas Thunder. Long Beach will visit the Orleans Arena for the first time on December 17, 2003, San Diego makes their first visit Friday, October 24, 2003, and Peoria will be in town on January 9-10, 2004. The regular season will wrap up on April 2, 2004 against the Anchorage Aces.
