ZION, IL - Todd Privett pitched seven scoreless innings to win his fourth straight decision, leading the Joliet JackHammers (41-40) past the Lake County Fielders (34-48) 3-0 Tuesday night in Zion. Joliet will look to take three of four from Lake County tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m.
The JackHammers staked Privett with two runs in the top of the fourth. Jonathan Wyatt singled and moved up to second on a bunt attempt by Josh Flores. Ryan Bicondoa (2-8) threw wide to second, trying to gun down Wyatt on the play. Brad Correll singled home the first run and Jon Nelson lifted a sacrifice fly to center for a 2-0 lead.
Privett went out and allowed only two hits in seven innings, striking out seven while walking four. Juan Valdes collected a single with one out in the fourth and Brian McFall doubled to start the seventh against Privett, the lone hits allowed by the lefty.
Joliet tacked on another run in the sixth off Bicondoa, who went the distance in the loss. Wyatt led off with a double and advanced to third on a Correll single. Nelson reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Wyatt from third on the play.
Bicondoa threw 131 pitches in his nine innings of work, allowing three runs on nine hits with a season high nine strikeouts.
Griffin Bailey struck out the side in the ninth for his 11th save, tying Lake County's Chris Homer for third place in the Northern League.
Wyatt led the 'Hammers with three hits and scored two runs while Nelson drove in a game high two runs.
The JackHammers and Fielders will wrap up their season series tomorrow night in Zion. Rory Shortell (2-7) will go opposite Alec Lewis (0-2) on the bump. First pitch is set for 7:00 p.m. with a 6:50 p.m. pre-game show on 1340 WJOL.
