
Princeton Trounces Greeneville 7-1 to Even Series

Princeton, WV - The Princeton Rays (5-3) defeated the Greeneville Astros (2-6) 7-1 on Thursday night to at Hunnicutt Field to even the series between the two teams.
The Rays allowed the solo Astros run in the first inning before storming back to score one run in the second, sixth and seventh innings in addition to two in both the third and fourth frames.
Right-hander Brian McAfee started on the mound for Princeton and dominated with three strikeouts over two frames to avenge the early Astros run on three hits. Another righty, Peter Bayer followed McAfee with three shutout frames and four strikeouts as he earned the win. Dominican prospect Sandy Brito and Canadian prospect Reign Letkeman closed out the game, each tossing a pair of double strikeout frames.
Princeton dominated offensively with seventeen hits as the Astros' Justin Garcia, Jonathan Arauz and Ruben Castro who each went 1-for-4, representing Greeneville's trio of base knocks.
Princeton centerfielder Emilio Gustave went 3-for-5 with a single, triple and home run alongside two runs scored and one RBI. The Rays lineup that saw all nine members of the lineup record at least one hit and six with multi-hit games. Gustave was closely followed by third baseman Blake Butera who also went 3-for-5 while recording four RBI.
Shortstop Adrian Rondon, catcher Rafelin Lorenzo and second baseman Robbie Tenerowicz each posted 2-for-4 performances. Tenerowicz crossed home twice on the night as Rondon and Lorenzo each scored once. First baseman Bobby Melley extended his hitting streak to all eight games in the young Rays season with a 2-for-5, one RBI showing.
Designated hitter and Washington State prospect Trek Stemp, right fielder Eleardo Cabrera and 23rd-round selectee leftfielder Isaac Benard each went 1-for-4 at the plate. Benard crossed the plate with one run on the night.
The Rays will seek the series win and the fourth victory of their six-game, opening homestand in Friday's rubber match with Greeneville at Hunnicutt Field. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM.
