Prince Albert falls short in hard fought game to Red Deer

Prince Albert, SK - Adam Helewka scored the game-winning goal in the third period as the Prince Albert Raiders fell to the Red Deer Rebels 4-3 on Tuesday night at the Art Hauser Centre.

The Raiders received two-point efforts from Reid Gardiner (1g-1a) and Jesse Lees (1g-1a). Lees and Gardiner scored on back-to-back power plays to give Prince Albert a lead during the second period. Jordan Tkatch also found the back of the net.

Grayson Pawlenchuk (1g-1a) and Ivan Nikolishin (2a) registered two points each to led the Rebels. The visitors also got goals on the night from Connor Bleackley, Helewka, and Nelson Nogier.

Getting the start for the Raiders, Rylan Parenteau turned away 33 of 37 attempts, while Rebels puck stopper Rylan Toth made 26 saves on 29 shots.

The Rebels outshot the Raiders 37-29. Prince Albert went 2-for-3 on the power play, while Red Deer was 0-for-2.

The Raiders drop to 23-13-3-1 on the season, while the Rebels boost their record to 27-13-0-0.

The Raiders travel to Manitoba this week for their next game on Friday, January 8 versus the Brandon Wheat Kings. The team is back at the Art Hauser Centre on Saturday, January 9 when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers to town. Puck drop is 7:00 PM.
