Cary Invasion News Release
Cary, NC: The PrimeTime Players (3-1) rolled into Cary (3-2) Saturday night and lived up to their name. The Players maintained control for the majority of the night in a game that included a series of runs by both teams. PrimeTime jumped out to a 28-16 lead midway through the first quarter, only to see the lead completely evaporate at the end of the quarter. The game stayed tight throughout the second, with the Players leading at the break, 58-56.
The early part of the second half belonged to the Invasion. Good defense and a streak of good shooting gave Cary a 7 point lead after just a few minutes of play in the third quarter. Just when it looked as though Cary was in control, the Players made a game-defining 26 - 5 run and built a 14 point lead by early in the fourth quarter. Facing a double-digit deficit throughout the final quarter, the Invasion made some key plays to come nearly all the way back in the final 3 minutes of the game. Trailing 108 - 105 with 15 seconds to go, Invasion guard and former East Carolina standout Brock Young was just off the mark with a game-tying three pointer. The Players rebounded the miss and hit a couple of late free throws to seal the win, 110-105. The loss was the first ever for Cary in two seasons at home at the Young Center.
With the win, PrimeTime jumps to the top of the TRBL point standings. The Invasion play next against Wilmington on Sunday night at the Herb Young Center.
