New Jersey Pride News Release
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - For the second time this season the New Jersey Pride face adversity, and they hope things turn out like they did the first time around.
The Pride travel to Rochester on Friday for a an evening game against the Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. at newly opened Paetec Park, and are hoping to rebound from their second loss of the season last weekend against Denver.
"The Rattlers are our old National Division foes,'' said General Manager Trey Reeder. "We know them as well as we know anyone. But we also know they have made a lot of solid additions to their team since we last saw them.''
The game can be heard live on Internet Radio beginning with the pre-game show at 7 p.m. with hosts Joe Nolan and Keith Glock.
The Pride topped the Rattlers 18-14 in Week 2 of the season at Rutgers University's Yurcak Field, but since then, Rochester has added attackmen Joe Walters and Chris Unterstein, in addition to defenseman Jack Reid and face-off specialist Greg Guerenlian in the MLL Draft.
"Those are some big time names,'' Reeder said of the Rattlers' new additions. "It's definitely going to be an interesting game.''
The Pride come off what was perhaps their worst game of the season, one in which they trailed by seven at halftime before coming to life in the final 30 minutes, cutting the lead to a goal only to lose by four.
"I think a lot of what happened last weekend was because we weren't hustling nearly as much as we probably should have,'' Reeder said. "I know our team and our coaches weren't happy with it and I am certain it won't happen again.''
In that loss, Pride attackman Jesse Hubbard scored a pair of goals, the second of which was the 200th of his Major League Lacrosse career, making him only the second player in history to reach that mark (Baltimore's Mark Millon is the other).
The Pride's visit to Rochester will be its only trip there of the season and will be the first time the team will play at Paetec Park, the new home of the Rattlers which seats over 10,000 fans and has a synthetic surface.
"I am sure it's an awesome place,'' Reeder said. "It's great for the league and great for Rochester. We're looking forward to going and playing there.''
The Pride look to improve to 4-2 before their longest road trip of the season next weekend when they travel to San Francisco.
