
Pride to play charity softball game on Tuesday

FLORENCE, SC â The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team will play a benefit softball game against members of the local media on Tuesday, September 21. The game will take place at Ebenezer Softball Field in Florence, and will start at 7:00 p.m. All proceeds raised during the game will be used to purchase tickets for Opening Night for underprivileged children.
The Pride will be represented in the game by: defensmen Jan Vodrazka and Darryl Green; forwards Eric Naud and Allan Sirois; head coach Perry Florio; equipment manager Paul Camelio; general manager Jack Capuano, Jr.; director of broadcasting and media relations Joe Babik; director of sales Mike Chinich; and account executive Rick Benthall.
Media members scheduled to participate are: Rich Chrampanis and Ed Piotrowski (WPDE NewsChannel 15); Ric Garni, Brian Levitan, Ted Williams, and Curtis Graham (WBTW News 13); Scotty G and Fisher (103 X); Ed Palmer (Eagle 92.9); and T.J. (WJMX 970-AM).
In case of rain, the game will be played the following Tuesday, September 28, also at 7:00.
"This event will be a lot of fun and it is for a great cause," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "Any time we can give back to the community that supports us, we're all for it. We hope to have a large turn out to raise a lot of money for these most deserving children. There is nothing better than seeing a child with a smiling face"
Opening Weekend 2004 is right around the corner! Friday, October 22, the Pride host the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the game, fans are encouraged to tailgate in the civic center parking lot, and listen to the music of local band Paradigm. All fans in attendance receive a free rally towel courtesy of Wachovia Bank. On Saturday, October 23, the Pride host the Augusta Lynx, also at 7:30. The first 2,500 fans in attendance receive a Pride magnetic schedule courtesy of SCE&G. Following the game, the Pride, in conjunction with Archadeck of the Pee Dee; BB&T; Griggs, Floyd and Grantham; and Micky Finn's present the Blue Dogs in concert.
