NEWS FROM AROUND THE LEAGUE
As you have probably heard, the Colorado Rockies and New York Yankees purchased the contracts of some of the Pride's top performers recently. OF Curtis Pride moved on to the Yankees, and has joined their AAA team in Columbus, while pitchers Brian Looney and Brian Smith were both headed to the Rockies AAA team in Colorado Springs. The Camden Riversharks also sent a pitcher to the bigs, as closer Kane Davis had his contract purchased by the Chicago Cubs and was assigned to AAA Iowa. Just more evidence of the strength of Atlantic League baseball.

ON THE FIELD
Nashua played host to the Somerset Patriots over Memorial Day Weekend, and nature and the Pride truly rained on the Patriots parade. Nashua swept the Patriots right out of New Hampshire, beating them by a combined score of 21-13. The Pride showed grit and determination in game one, coming from 6-1 down to win in the 10th on Ryan Van Horn's walk-off homerun. That game swung the momentum for the whole series in Nashua's favor.
Tonight's doubleheader begins the last series between the top two teams in the North Division during the first half of the season. As of now, 14-7 Long Island leads 14-8 Nashua by .5 games in the battle for the first half crown. The Ducks and Pride continue to distance themselves from the crowd in the North, as Bridgeport has dropped 5.5 games back with 3 straight losses, and the Road Warriors have lost 11 in a row. In the South, Camden has picked it up while Newark has stumbled a bit. Camden's 16-6 record is the best in the league, and Newark has dropped two straight, bringing their record to 12-10 and putting 4 games between the 'Sharks and Bears. Atlantic City has climbed back to .500 with three wins in a row, while Somerset's 7-14 record leaves them in the South basement.
