FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that the team has signed defenseman R. C. Lyke to a contract for the 2004-2005 season.

The 26-year-old Lyke enters his third pro season in 2004-2005. He has spent the last two seasons in the United Hockey League. In his rookie season two years ago he suited up in 68 games with the Elmira Jackals. Last year, Lyke split the season with the Adirondack Ice Hawks and the Rockford Ice Hogs.

In 124 career professional games, the Poughkeepsie, NY native has 10 goals and 21 assists to go along with 177 penalty minutes. Prior to turning pro, he played two seasons at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA.

"R. C. came highly recommended from a few UHL coaches," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "He skates well, jumps in the play, and isn't afraid to protect his teammates when he has to. He will be a solid addition to a completely re-vamped defense corps this year."

The Pride open the 2004-2005 regular season on Friday, October 22, hosting the Roanoke Express at 7:30 p.m. The Pride continue their season-opening three-game home stand on Saturday, October 23 taking on the Greensboro Generals at 7:30 p.m., and on Tuesday, October 26 with a 7:00 match-up with the Gwinnett Gladiators.

Season tickets, flex plans and corporate partnerships for the 2004-2005 season are now available. For more information, or to place your order, visit the Pride office, located at the Florence Civic Center, or call (843) 669-7825.
