Myrtle Beach Thunderboltz News Release

FLORENCE, SC – The Pee Dee Pride announced today that they have agreed to terms with goaltender Sebastien Laplante on a contract for the 2004-2005 season.

The 24-year-old enters his third professional season, and his second with the Pride. He was signed by the team just prior to the start of the 2003-2004 season after spending his rookie season of 2002-2003 with the ECHL's Roanoke Express.

Despite missing nearly two months of action last season with injuries, Laplante led all Pride goaltenders with a 16-10-2 record, a 3.09 goals against average and a save percentage of .907.

"I am happy to be returning to the Pride organization for a second season," Laplante said. "I fell in love with the team, city and fans during last year, and decided that I did not want to go anywhere else. Perry and I have had an excellent relationship over the last two seasons, and my number one priority was to get a deal done quickly.

"Now that I have my deal in place, I can focus on training for the upcoming season, and helping to lead this team back to the playoffs."

"Seabass proved last year that he can win," Pride Head Coach Perry Florio said. "He loves the game as much as any player I have ever coached, and we happy to have him committed this early."

In 69 career professional games, Laplante has a 36-22-5 record to go along with a 3.17 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

Season tickets, flex plans and corporate partnerships for the 2004-2005 season of Pee Dee Pride hockey are now available. For more information, or to place your order, visit the Pride offices, located at the Florence Civic Center, or call (843) 669-7825.
