(Brockton, M.A., May 25, 2008) Brockton Rox starting pitcher, John Kelly, went six shut-out innings, allowing just two hits, while striking-out eight and walking two, en-route to his first win of the season over the Nashua Pride.

Brockton's Matt Maloney, in his first game back from injury, hit a solo home run to lead-off the bottom of the fourth inning, which turned out to be the game winning hit. Maloney also made a diving catch on an Ismael Castro line drive in the top of the ninth, with two men on, to end the game.

Rox closer Jerry Dunn earned his second save of the series. Reliever James Baker pitched a scoreless eighth, Matt Zachary allowed one run, on one hit, and struck-out two.

Pride Starter Reid Willett lasted 4 and one-third innings in the loss, giving up two runs, on five hits, while striking out three and walking three.

The Pride bullpen held strong, keeping Nashua within striking distance until the final out. Pitchers Jarret Stawarz, Adam Piechowski, and Andrew Weimer combined to pitch four scoreless innings, allowing only two hits and striking-out four batters.

Nashua scored their only run in the top of the eighth, when Bryan Duplissie scored from third base when Sandy Almonte struck-out on a passed ball that eluded Brockton catcher Lee Rubin. Duplissie scrambled home from third to make it a 2-1 ball game.

The Pride will enjoy a day off on Monday before opening up a six game home-stand at Historic Holman Stadium beginning on Tuesday, when they play host to the Worcester Tornadoes for a pair of games and the Rox in a four game series.

The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, in its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
