American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release
After a brief three game set against Rickey Henderson's former team, the Newark Bears, the Nashua Pride return to Historic Holman Stadium for six games in seven days beginning tomorrow, August 8th. The Pride will take on Pennsylvania and Camden.
During the first half of the season, Nashua owned the Warriors, winning all nine of the games between the two sides. But the second half has shown a revived Warrior team, who are 3-3 against the Pride in the second half. Nashua took 2-out-of-3 when Penn. was in town last weekend. The two Pride wins came in a doubleheader on August 2nd, as Nashua earned 3-0 and 4-1 wins before dropping the final game of the series, 4-2, to old pal David Rollandini.
This will be Camden's first trip to the House That Roy & Don Built since late June. While South Div. 1st Half Champ Camden has also had their bumps and bruises since clinching their playoff spot, as of August 5th the 'Sharks found themselves with a 13-11 record, just 1.0 game back of Atlantic City. When Nashua passed through Camden from July 23 - 25, the 'Sharks swept Nashua, who were en route to a 1-5 road trip.
Before Nashua comes home, tonight they finish the series with the Bears, as Jaime Navarro (7-2) will pitch for the Bears and Archie Corbin (6-6) will start for the Pride. Last night, a 5-0 Nashua win, propelled by HRs from Glenn Murray, Melvin Nieves and David Francia, evened the series after an earlier 8-4 Pride loss.

PRIDE ACQUIRE ENRIQUE RAMIREZ
The Nashua Pride announced today that the team has agreed to terms with Enrique Ramirez, a right handed pitcher who had previously spent his entire career with the Baltimore Orioles organization. He is expected to join the team on the road in Newark in time for tonight's game, prior to the Pride returning home this weekend. Ramirez has appeared in 142 minor league games since 1997, 137 of them out of the bullpen, compiling a 14-14 record and 4.33 ERA in 226.1 innings pitched. He also has 17 career saves on his resume.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
The Atlantic League of Professional Baseball announced that Long Island starting pitcher Jon Cannon has been named the Atlantic League's Pitcher of the Month for July. Cannon was selected after posting a 3-0 record with a 1.17 ERA in five starts for the Flock last month. Currently the southpaw from Los Altos, Calif. is the Atlantic League leader with an ERA of 1.77 in 31 games this season. Joining Cannon in receiving accolades from the Atlantic League is Camden Riversharks outfielder Dwight Maness, who earned Player of the Month honors by hitting .361 with a .760 slugging percentage in July.
LONG ISLAND DUCKS team officials announced they have come to contract terms with right-handed pitcher Kevin Sheredy. Sheredy begins his eighth season in professional baseball and first with the Ducks in 2003. He has spent the duration of the 2003 season prior to joining Long Island rehabbing an arm injury suffered during the 2002 campaign. In 196 career minor league games, he has posted a record of 12-26 with a 4.77 ERA in 367.2 innings of action. With the Memphis Redbirds in 2002 (AAA, Cardinals) Sheredy went 1-2 with two saves and a 4.75 ERA over 35 appearances. The Antioch, Calif. resident played his college baseball at UCLA and was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the seventh round of the 1996 draft.
The Ducks also have purchased the contract of infielder Gustavo Escobar from the Pennsylvania Road Warriors. Escobar joins the Ducks after spending the first three months of the 2003 season with the Pennsylvania Road Warriors. In 270 at bats with Pennsylvania this season, he hit .293 with 19 stolen bases while manning the shortstop position. In 333 career minor league games, he has a batting average of .247 with 120 RBIs and 46 steals. Originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals in 1997, the native of Anzoategui, Venezuela is in his seventh season of professional baseball.
THE NEWARK BEARS announced the signing of former Major League right-handed pitcher Jim Bullinger to a contract. The 37 year-old Bullinger spent parts of six seasons at the big league level, appearing in 186 games while pitching for the Chicago Cubs, Montreal Expos and Seattle Mariners. His lifetime record is 35-41 in the Majors with a 5.06 ERA. He was originally selected by the Cubs in the 9th round of the 1986 draft. In 1994, while pitching for the Cubs, Bullinger posted a 6-2 mark with 2 saves and a 3.60 ERA in 33 games (10 starts). A year later with the Cubs he was 12-8 with a 4.14 ERA, making 24 starts. He picked up seven saves out of Cubs bullpen in 1992.
