(Nashua, N.H.) Pride left fielder Dennis Abreu hit his fourth home run of the season, a three run shot in the first inning, which was all Nashua needed to take a victory over the Ottawa Rapidz, 4-2, in front of 2, 748 fans at Historic Holman Stadium in Nashua.
Abreu ended the night 3-for-4, adding a double and a stolen base to his tally. First baseman Bryan Duplissie drove in the Pride's fourth run of the game, belting his fourth homer of the season in the fifth inning. Duplissie regain sole possession of the team lead in RBI, knocking in his 18th of the season with the blast.
Pride Starting pitcher Nicolas Suero earned the victory and improved to 2-2 on the season, lasting five-plus innings, allowing two runs, on seven hits, one walk and a pair of strike outs.
Relievers Jason Paul, Rich Garces, Adam Piechowski, and Andrew Weimer combined to throw four innings, allowing just one hit and one walk. Piechowski notched a pair of strike outs in his inning while Weimer earned his Can-Am League leading eighth save with a perfect ninth.
Rapidz starter Greg Bunn suffered the loss, lasting six innings, giving up four runs, on five hits, five walks and five strike outs.
The Pride (13-14) and Rapidz (7-20) will finish their three game series on Sunday afternoon at 5:05pm, when Jarrett Stawarz (1-1) takes to the hill for Nashua. Orlando Trias (1-3) is scheduled to get the ball for Ottawa.
