
Preview: Tri-City Set for Road Battle against Cedar Rapids

Cedar Rapids, IA. - The Tri-City Storm travels to the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena tonight for a road matchup against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. Last night, Tri-City fell in overtime by a final score of 2-1 to the Dubuque Fighting Saints. Nick Capone scored Tri-City's only goal on the power play during the 2nd period of the game. Tonight's matchup against the RoughRiders is the final game in the two game season series. Earlier this season, on October 20th, Tri-City defeated Cedar Rapids 4-2 at the Viaero Center. Puck drop for tonight's matchup is scheduled for 7:05pm.
Tri-City (6-7-2-1) slipped to 5th place in the Western Conference standings following last night's overtime loss to Dubuque. A road win and season sweep of the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders tonight could move the Storm as high as 3rd place in the conference standings. The 3rd place team (Fargo) and the 7th place team (Omaha) are only separated by three points currently in the Western Conference standings. Through the first sixteen games of the 2019-2020 regular season, scoring leaders for Tri-City include; Colby Ambrosio (9), Benji Eckerle (6), Matthew Knies (4), Felix Carenfelt (4), Joe Molenaar (3), Ian Murphy (3), Nick Capone (2), and Kyle Aucoin (2). Following tonight's game, Tri-City returns home for back to back games against Team USA next weekend at the Viaero Center.
Cedar Rapids (9-6-0-0) hosts Tri-City tonight following a 3-0 home shutout of the Lincoln Stars last night. The RoughRiders trail only Chicago and Dubuque in the Eastern Conference standings entering tonight's game. Max Sasson, Nikolai Mayorov, and Nate Hanley netted goals in last night's win. Derek Mullahy stopped all 23 Stars shots to record the shutout in net. Through fifteen games in the regular season, scoring leaders for the RoughRiders include; Nikolai Mayorov (9), Ben Meehan (6), Grant Silianoff (5), Jackson Jutting (5), Justin Hryckowian (4), Nate Hanley (4), Robby Newton (4), and Joshua Barnes (4). Tonight's game is the final game in the RoughRiders current four game homestand. The RoughRiders will play road games next weekend against Green Bay and Waterloo.
