Saginaw Spirit News Release
Sault Ste Marie, Ont. - The Saginaw Spirit (14-19-1-0) will travel to Ontario to play a game for the first time since December 10th when they face the West Division-leading Soo Greyhounds (21-12-2-1) Wednesday night at the GFL Memorial Gardens. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
Head-to-Head
The Spirit and Greyhounds have split their season-series so far this year at two games apiece, with both teams winning their games on their respective home ice. Their last meeting came on December 30th, a 2-1 victory for the Spirit at The Dow. Andrew Oke earned first star honors with 25 saves, while Sault native Calem Mangone scored the go-ahead goal for the Spirit with just over six minutes reaming in the third period. The Hounds have dominated on their home ice this year. Their 12 wins at the GFL Memorial Gardens is the most in the entire Ontario Hockey League.
Last Time Out
Saginaw: The Spirit were unable to take a weekend sweep in Erie, when they fell to the Otters Sunday by a 4-2 score. Evan Klein put the Spirit in a 2-1 lead late in the second period, but the Otters would score three times in the final frame. This chippy affair included 53 minutes in penalties between the two teams.
Soo: The Hounds extended their points streak to four straight games with a road win Friday night over the Guelph Storm, by a 4-2 count. Cole MacKay lead the way for the Hounds with a goal and two assists, while Tye Kartye scored twice and Rory Kerins notched two assists. Tucker Tynan made 39 saves for the Greyhounds to preserve their lead.
