OKC Energy FC News Release
Winless in its last five games, OKC Energy FC (7-5-5) hosts Tulsa Roughnecks FC (6-8-3) for the second time in less the month. Since defeating Tulsa 2-0 on June 13 for a fifth consecutive USL win, OKC has gone 0-3-2, suffering its franchise-worst loss (6-2 to Louisville) and first shutout defeat of the season (1-0 at Orange County).
Energy FC's Danni Konig has tallied goals in six of OKC's last seven games and has also scored the club's last four goals dating back to June 27 in Louisville.
Energy FC is coming off a 2-2 tie with Orange County Blues FC last Saturday at Taft Stadium. In the match, Konig scored both OKC goals, with Casey Townsend registering an assist on the second one. The tie broke a five-game winning streak for Energy FC at Taft Stadium this season. OKC is still unbeaten at Taft Stadium since April 25, when the club fell to St. Louis FC in the second home match of the season.
Behind reigning USL Player of the Week, goal keeper Jake Feener, Tulsa Roughnecks FC enters play off consecutive home wins against Orange County and then-conferece-leader Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Against Colorado Springs last Saturday, Tulsa opened up a 2-0 lead on goals by Brady Ballew and Kyle Venter near the end of the first half, with Feener allowing just a penalty kick goal en route to the Roughnecks 3-1 win.
Saturday's match marks the fourth meeting between the two teams this season (including a May 27 U.S. Open Cup match). OKC has won two of the three previous meetings, with the other a 1-1 tie in the opening match of the season.
