Preview: IMcF DonBorello to Compete in eMLS League Series 1

With 2023 underway, Inter Miami will begin its participation in another eMLS season tomorrow, now with IMCF_Don Borrello at the helm. The campaign will begin with eMLS League Series 1, which will feature a qualifying stage on Jan. 24-25, group stage on Jan. 28, and final tournament stage on Jan. 29.

"I'm very excited for the opportunity to represent Inter Miami at one of the biggest tournaments in FIFA Esports. Coming into the league as a rookie this season means I have a lot to prove, but I have prepared for this, so I'm confident in my game. I'm honored to represent the club at this level and looking to win LS1," said IMCF_DonBorrello.

The remote qualifiers will see Borrello take on 13 opponents over two days, with the event running from 6-9:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday and 6-9 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The results from the two days of qualifiers will determine seeding for Saturday's group stage, with the top four players receiving byes to League Series 1. The top-two finishers in each of the four groups will also advance to LS1 on Sunday, Jan. 29.

While the qualifiers will be played remotely, the group and tournament stages will be hosted in-person in New York City.

Each qualifying and group stage match will be streamed live from Inter Miami's Twitch and YouTube channels. League Series 1 will be streamed live on MLS Twitch and Twitter accounts.

Borrello signed as Inter Miami's second-ever eMLS athlete in October 2022. In FIFA 22, he was ranked in the top 30 players in North America, and in FIFA21, won the 2021 Canada eNational Tournament.

This year, Inter Miami is entering its third competitive eMLS season. In 2021, the club made it to the semifinals of the Last Chance Qualifier for the eMLS Cup. In 2022, Inter Miami qualified for the club's first broadcast event, League Series 2, and made the Club's first eMLS Cup Playoff appearance, winning its first matchup before facing elimination in the quarterfinals.
