Kansas City Comets News Release

INDEPENDENCE, MO. - Following a hard fought shootout defeat to the Milwaukee Wave last Friday, the Missouri Comets (7-1) return home to the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena to host former Comets goalkeeper Danny Waltman and the Tacoma Stars (5-2) for the second time in Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) history. The match, which will kick off at 7:35 pm CT, will be streamed live on Go Live Sports Cast.

Coach Vlatko Andonovski's team has their sights set on starting a new streak. However, that won't be an easy task as the Stars stand second in the Pacific Division with five wins (Sacramento x3, Turlock and Dallas) and two losses (Sonora and Dallas).

The last time Tacoma visited Kansas City, league MVP Leo Gibson broke the record for most points scored in a game with eight tallies and four assists to lead the MASL in points, goals, and assists. That night, Missouri beat the Stars 17-1.

After entering the league halfway through last year's season, Tacoma strengthened its roster with the signings of longtime Comets goalkeeper Danny Waltman, veteran midfielder Elliot Fauske, defender Jeff Bader, and midfielders Jamael and Raphael Cox for their first full season.

Both teams are coming from losses. The Comets dropped their first regular season contest in 22 months to the Milwaukee Wave with a heartbreaking 7-6 shootout defeat. As for the Stars, Dallas left the ShoWare Center with a 6-2 victory.

The Stars are led by forward Derek Johnson with six goals and four assists for a total of 10 points. On the other hand, team captain Vahid Assadpour leads the league and team with 24 points thanks to his 9 goals and 15 assists.

Next up, the Comets hit the road to visit the Waza Flo a week from tonight at the Dort Federal Event Center in Flint, Michigan.
