Prentiss Takes Home Week Two Offensive MVP

Southaven, MS-The af2 league office announced today that OS Kevin Prentiss earned the Offensive MVP award for his outstanding performance last Friday against Amarillo. The Xplorers destroyed Amarillo 66-41, moving to 2-0 on the season.
Prentiss, a former Mississippi State standout, scored eight times, tying a five-year old af2 record. Two of his touchdowns came off kick returns, including one to start the second half. Xplorers QB Brian Jones found Prentiss in the end zone for the other six scores.
Now in his third season with the Xplorers, Prentiss has become a fan-favorite in the Mid-South area. Last season he led the team in scoring, and returned eight kickoffs for TDs. He helped lead the Xplorers to their first playoff game in franchise history.
"Kevin is such an explosive offensive player," stated Xplorers Head Coach Danton Barto. "I did not realize that he had scored eight times until my wife mentioned it to me after the game. The gut has all the talent in the world, and we are very lucky to have him for another season."
With eight touchdowns on Friday, Prentiss now has 66 points on the season. If this pace continues, he may have a chance to break the single season scoring record set by Shon King in 2000, when he scored 284 points for Quad City.
Prentiss' recognition gives the Xplorers representation in the top three performances for the second consecutive week. Last week Xplorers lineman Khreem Smith earned ADT Defensive Player of the Week.
Memphis opens up their home schedule Friday against the Arkansas Twisters. Game time is scheduled for 7:35 at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Single game tickets start as low as $7.
