Pre-Season Game Announced

Knoxville Ice Bears News Release


We encourage all Ice Bear fans to attend the preseason game October 27th against the Huntsville Havoc. Everyone bring a friend and let's fill the Coliseum to show the new guys that Knoxville fans love and support their hockey team! All tickets are only $5 and will be assigned seating. Season ticket holders will have until October 25th to purchase their tickets for this game. At which time they will go on sell at tickets unlimited.

The Ice Bears staff will be able to sell non-reserved tickets now, to purchase those you must contact the Ice Bears office at 865-525-7825. Tickets unlimited and the coliseum box office will be unable to sell tickets until October 26th.

PARKING PASSES may be purchased at the Ice Bears office for $125. These will include all games during the 2004-05 season, the pre-season game and all post-season games. They will also be available at the season ticket party on November 8th.

Coach Jim Bermingham has been out of town scouting players and was unable to provide a write up for this edition. We have listed a short bio on signed players. Do you have a question for Coach Jim Bermingham? If so, send it to askthecoach@knoxvilleicebears.com and Coach Bermingham will answer several in each e-mail newsletter.

Marcus Forsberg- Marcus joins the Icebears this year after playing in the CHL last year for the El Paso Buzzards. Marcus is a left winger from Sodertalje, Sweden and will be a definite compliment to the Icebear offense this year. In two preseason games with Ft. Wayne of the UHL Marcus scored two goals before his release.

Alex Alepin-The player that needs no introduction. Alex once again joins the Icebears as a leader and fan favorite. He is one of the Icebear veterans who is hard hitting and has a blazing slapshot. Dubbed the SEHL defenseman.of the year last year, Alex will once again be on the ice for us making amazing plays and supplying a never ending amount of bone crushing hits along the boards.

Rob Miller- Rob returns to the Icebears this year as a strong defensive force that opposing teams will have to reckon with. Rob is a solid defenseman who highlighted his career in 2002-03 when he scored 16 Goals and had 29 Assists for 45 points for the Jacksonville Barracudas.

Todd MacIsaac-Todd will once again serve as player/assistant coach for the Icebears. His leadership and guidance to younger players only raises his stock value to the team. His on ice performance is quite impressive as well. Posting 19 goals and 40 assists last year only raises the excitement of Todd's return and what the future may hold for him and the Icebears.

Kevin Swider- Swiderman returns! Kevin joins the Icebears this year after rejoining the team last year for the playoffs. Kevin is a natural goal scorer capable of scoring at any time. He is a scoring powerhouse capable of putting up big numbers, and his stats reflect that. Last year with the Manatees, Kevin scored 24 goals and had 47 assists for a whopping 71 points. The year prior, he posted 40 goals and 40 assists here in Knoxville to become a fan favorite and affectionately known as "Swiderman".

Tom McMonagle- Tom is also a returnee for the Icebears. Tom is a lightning fast forward capable of lighting the lamp quite frequently. He posted 29 goals and 19 assists in 47 games last year before suffering an injury which kept him out until the playoffs. Tom fought through pain and in five playoff games scored a goal and had an assist. The icebears expect big things from Tom this year.

Mike Craigen- Mike is a newcomer to the Icebears this year. He comes to us by way of the Alabama Slammers of the WHA2. Mike is a gritty in your face kind of player that will slam players into the boards, then add insult to injury and score on them. Last year he scored 15 goals and had 20 assists for 35 points. Mike frequently likes to drop the gloves as well and his toughness will be a nice and exciting addition to the team.

KJ Voorhees- KJ is quite simply "Mr. Offense". He rejoins the team after delighting fans last year with 53 goals and 51 assists for an amazing 104 points. He is an offensive powerhouse that will make goalies all over the league have nightmares. The Icebears are thrilled to have K.J. back this year and hope for another huge offensive season out of him.

James Ronayne- James comes to the Icebears by way of the Alabama Slammers of the WHA2. He is a very solid netminder who can stop the puck and make the impossible saves. Last year he posted a 3.20 GAA and a 0.913 save percentage. He comes into camp as the expected starter and was chosen in the coach's preseason poll as the leagues second strongest goalie. Big things are expected from James this year and the Icebears are happy to have him aboard.
