BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Craig Macdonald, Matthew Spiller and Jon Booras each tallied three points as the Bloomington PrairieThunder snapped a nine-game winless streak with a 6-2 victory over Flint in an International Hockey League game that featured 270 minutes of penalties and a line-brawl before 2,292 people Suynday at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The win moved the PrairieThunder record to 15-14-2-4 (36 points) and the team into a tie for fourth place in the standings with Dayton. Bloomington returns to action Tuesday with a 7:05 p.m. home game against Quad City.

Rookie defenseman Noel Coultice scored the first of three Bloomington goals in the first period on a shot dead center from just inside the blue line. Jamie Carroll and Travis Banga had assists on the goal that came at the 11:35 mark.

Macdonal followed with his first of two goals at the eight-mark on a power play effort that was assisted by Booras and Lepine. Jamie Schaafsma cut the Flint deficit in half with a goal with 3:59 remaining in the first period on assists by John Mori and Jake Pence.

Macdonald answered with another power play goal with 44 seconds left in the first period on assists by Spiller and Lepine. The only goal of the second period came on a 3-on-5 short-handed effort by Matt McIlvane with an assist to Booras with 6:47 remaining.

Carroll extended the Bloomington lead to 5-1 just 73 seconds into the third period on assists by Booras and Spiller. Then the penalties flew. Flint was charged with 112 minutes of penalties, while Bloomington was guilty of 94 minutes at the 17:19 mark.

Things got so bizaree that Flint goalie Nick Niedert came down the ice to take on his Bloomington counterpart Andrew Martin. Also, Bloomington equipment manager Mark Kincher and Flint trainer Jason Wallace were handed game misconduct penalties.

After things settled down, Bloomington scored on a power play effort by Spiller with assists to Chase Watson and Macdonald midway through the period. Flint's Alec Kirschner scored with 3:06 remaining on a power play with assists to Tyler Howells and Jason Hill.

Flint managed to own a 30-29 advantage in shots and was 1 for 9 on the power play. Bloomington was 3 for 9 on the power play and finished with 134 minutes of penalties. Flint had 136.

Martin was the winning goalie, stopping 28 of 30 shots. Rob Nolan took the loss for Flint.
