Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release
The Bloomington PrairieThunder ring in the first week of 2011 with three games, including two more home games at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Wednesday & Friday night. The PThunder will wrap up the week's action against the "original" CHL Thunder in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday night. Between December 10th and January 8th, the PrairieThunder will have played 13 games, ten of them at home. The tables will turn in February when Bloomington plays only 3 of 12 games at home. Bloomington begins the week in fourth place in the CHL's Turner (Northern) Conference with a record of 17-10-1, good for 35 points. The PrairieThunder has four games in hand on the first place Rapid City Rage which has 38 points. Only eight points separate first place Rapid City from the seventh place Evansville IceMen.
Last week, Bloomington went 2-2 on the week. The PrairieThunder defeated Dayton 4-3 on Thursday (12/30) and Evansville 4-1 on Saturday (1/1). Those victories were sandwiched around two shutout losses to the Quad City Mallards, 4-0 on Monday (12/26) in the Quad Cities and 2-0 on Sunday afternoon (1/2).

The fifth meeting of the year between the PrairieThunder and IceMen. Bloomington has won the first four meetings, most recently by a 4-1 margin on January 1st. Evansville begins the week in eighth place in the CHL's Turner Conference with a record of 10-17-5, good for 25 points. Bloomington is 6-4-0 in their last ten games while Evansville is 1-7-2. Against the IceMen this season, CHL All-Star Jason Dale has 4 goals and 2 assists for 6 points in four games. Evansville's Nicklas Lindberg leads all IceMen in scoring against Bloomington with 1 goal & 3 assists.

Sixth meeting of the season. Dayton leads the season series 3-2 but Bloomington won last game 4-3 last Thursday at home. Dayton (16-12-2) is in fifth place in the Turner Conference just one point behind the PrairieThunder. Bill Bagron leads all PrairieThunder players in scoring against Dayton with 5 points (2 goals & 3 assists). For the Gems of Ohio, Brett Lutes has 5 points on 4 goals and 1 assist against Bloomington.

Bloomington leads the season series 2-0 following a 3-2 shootout win in Wichita on 11/13 and a 5-4 victory in Bloomington on 12/16. John Snowden leads all PThunder in scoring against Wichita with 3 points (1 goal & 2 assists). Matt Robinson (3 goals & 1 assist) and Jesse Bennefield (1 goal & 3 assists) lead the "original" CHL Thunder with 4 points against Bloomington.

In Bloomington's last ten games, the "hot players" (at least on the ice) have been CHL All-Star Jason Dale with 4 goals & 5 assists, Brett Holmberg with 7 goals and 1 assist, Bill Bagron with 2 goals and 6 assists, and defenseman Alan Mazur with 8 assists.....Jason Dale still leads the team in scoring with 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points.....Dale leads the team in goals with his ten.....Bill Bagron leads the team in assists with 16.....Brett Holmberg is tops in plus / minus with a +10 rating.....John Snowden still leads the squad in game winning goals with 6.....Goaltender Marco Emond leads all CHL goalies in wins with 14 and Marco is third in goals against average with a 2.51 average.
