Quad City’s David Brown Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week

TEMPE, AZanuary 4, 2011) -The Central Hockey League announced today that Quad City ‚¬â„¢s David Brown has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 2, 2011.

CHL Goaltending Leaders

Forced into the limelight due to an injury to the Mallards other goaltender, Adam Russo, Brown responded winning three of the four starts he made last week including shutting out the Bloomington PrairieThunder on Dec. 27 and Jan. 2. Brown finished the week stopping 140 of 147 shots (.952 save percentage) and allowing seven goals (1.75 GAA). The Stoney Creek, Ontario native twice blanked the PThunder stopping 36 shots in a 4-0 win on Monday and then a 43-save effort in a 2-0 win on Sunday. In between, Brown topped the Fort Wayne Komets, 6-5 in overtime, on Friday night and in his only blemish of the week made 22 saves but received no support in a 2-0 loss to Wichita.

Brown is 8-9-0 on the season with a 2.69 goals against average and a .920 save percentage. His two shutouts are tied for the league lead.
