BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington PrairieThunder has the opportunity to secure its hold on fourth-place in the International Hockey League standings in its next two games against the Dayton Gems, beginning Wednesday with a 7:05 p.m. contest at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

Bloomington, which plays at Dayton in a 6:45 p.m. game Friday, leads the Gems by two points in the standings at the halfway point in its season. The PrairieThunder has a 17-15-2-4 record (40 points), while Dayton is 17-19-3-1 (38 points).

Following the Friday game at Dayton, the PrairieThunder returns home for a 7:05 p.m. tilt with league-leading Muskegon on Saturday and Quad City at 4:05 p.m. Sunday.

Wednesday's game marks the seventh meeting between Dayton and the PrairieThunder, which leads the season series, 4-1-0-1. Bloomington is 2-1 against the Gems at home. The PrairieThunder won the first four games against the Gems before dropping the last two, including an 8-7 setback two weeks ago.

The PrairieThunder, which has won three of its last four games, has a 13-6-2-0 record at home this season and a 58-64-8-5 all-time mark at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Dayton is 8-10-2-0 on the road. Bloomington is 4-9-0-4 on the road, while the Gems are 9-9-1-1 at home.

Bloomington is winless in five games against Muskegon, but owns a 6-3-0-1 record when playing Quad City.

Wednesday is "Tropical Thunder Night" with special tropical drink specials and folks wearing tropical attire receiving a voucher for a ticket to a future game. There are also special $2 prices on draught beer, hot dogs, soda and popcorn.
