BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - Back-to-back-to back.
That's what the Bloomington PrairieThunder hockey team faces over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend with a pair of International Hockey League home games against Kalamazoo at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Thanksgiving and Saturday nights at U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Thursday's game begins at the special time of 7:35 with all tickets priced at $6, while Saturday's contest starts at 7:05. In between the games with Kalamazoo, the PrairieThunder travels to Muskegon for a 6 pm. contest Friday at L.C. Walker Arena.
Bloomington will be out to snap a two-game losing streak and improve on its 5-8 record (10 points).
The team is 1-1 against Kalamazoo (1-0 at home) and 1-2 against Muskegon (0-1 on the road).
The PrairieThunder has a 4-4 record at home and a 1-4 mark on the road overall Muskegon is undefeated at home in six hames, while Kalmazoo is 3-4 on the road..
Injuries
Veteran forward John Nail and defenseman Geoff Patton are expected to return to action Thursday. Nail has nor played in eight of the last nine games while recovering from a broken finger. Patton suffered a shouler separation in Friday's game at Kalamazoo.
Slapshots, etc.
Bloomington's Don Parsons needs just five goals to become the all-time leader in career goals scored in professional minor league hockey. Parsons moved into second-place on the all-time list with 673 in16 years. Former Flint coach Kevin Kerr is the all-time leader with 677.
Parsons has averaged 41 goals per season during his career. The Boston native also ranks 16th in all-time points scored at 1,294 (an average of just under 80 per season) and needs 16 to move into 15th spot. His goals and points scored are first among active players.
Parsons is 47th in all-time assists with 620 and is closing in on the 1,000th career games played mark. He broke into the all-time top 100 recently, ranking 96th with 969 games played. Both of those marks are second among active players.
The PrarieThunder has been outscored, 34-19, in six of the last seven games it has lost.
Bloomington took 61 consecutive shots on goal without finding the net for nearly six periods before scoring on its next three shots against Muskegon on Saturday.
