PrairieThunder fall to IceHawks

PORT HURON, Mich. - Mikael Bedard and Nick Lindberg scored goals in a shootout to give the Port Huron IceHawks a 4-3 International Hockey League victory over the Bloomington PrairieThunder before 1,489 people Friday at McMorran Arena.

The loss snapped a four-game PrairieThunder winning streak, but Bloomington (5-2-0-1) remaineed alone in first place with 11 points. Port Huron's record is 4-1-0-1 (9 points). The same two teams meet Saturday in Port Huron at 6:30 p.m.

The IceHawks grabbed an early 2-0 lead on goals by Lindberg, off assists by Cory Stillman and Derek Patrosso, with 13:24 remaining in the first period. Stillman scored the second IceHawks' goal two minutes later.

Craig Macdonald got the PrairieThunder on the board midway through the first period off assists by Jamie Carroll and Ryan Finnerty. Justin Sawyer tied the game with a power play goal with 2:43 remaining in the first period with an assist to Finnerty.

Port Huron regained a 3-2 advantage with 1:51 left in the first period on a goal by Tab Lardner with assists to Mike Kinnie and Adam Maccarone.

Finnerty sent the game into overtime with a goal at the 16:46 mark of the third period off assists by Brian Boulay and Bill Bagron.

Macdonald scored the Bloomington goal in the shootout.

Andrew Martin took the loss in net for the PrairieThunder despite stopping all 17 shots he faced. Martin entered the game after the first period when Paulo Colaiacovo exited with a grion injury. Colaiacovo had nine saves on 12 shots.

Adam Russo gained the victory for Port Huron by pushing aside 27 of 30 shots.
