Key Matchup: New York F Tiffeny Milbrett vs. Washington D Jen Grubb: Milbrett will look to use her explosive speed to add to her four career goals against Washington. In the first meeting last season, Milbrett tallied two goals, but Grubb was able to keep her off the scoreboard in their last two meetings.

Power Notes:

Short Handed

The Power will be missing four key players, when they take on the Washington Freedom. Defender Sara Whalen is out for the season, after suffering an ACL injury to her right knee. Kristy Whelchel will also miss a good portion of the season, again due to a torn ACL. Australians Cheryl Salisbury and Joey Peters will both miss the Power's first two games, due to National Team duty.

New Faces

Six new players (Carly Smolak, Christie Welsh, Shannon Boxx, Margaret Tietjen, Lauren Orlandos and Lindsey Jones) started for New York against Atlanta last week. Tom Sermanni is looking for his first points as the Power's newly appointed head coach.

Shining Star

New York's forward Tiffeny Milbrett begins the season as the WUSA's all-time leading scorer. Milbrett has scored 26 goals and added 11 assists for 63 points.

Overseas

Power Australian International tallied four goals as Australia defeated Samoa, 19-0. It was Australia's first match of the 2003 OFC Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament.
