Power Play Equals Power Pay

October 21, 2003 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
U.S. National Team News Release

Ann Arbor, Mich. – Trick or Treat? As Halloween approaches, USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program (NTDP) is announcing it will pay some lucky fan’s power bill at the end of the October 29th game against the Youngstown Phantoms. Fans need to bring their current residential power bill to the game. Every time Team USA scores a power play goal we will announce a finalist. At the end of the game each finalist will come out onto the ice for an on-ice contest to decide the winner. This promotion is on top of the promotion in which everyone in the building will receive a free Frosty or Fries from Wendy’s if we score a power play goal and Free Chili if the Team scores five or more goals in the game. Free Chili from Wendy’s for everyone has been given out three times already this season.

The team is also having a Halloween costume contest that evening with the winner of the best costume contest receiving a signed Team USA Four Nations Shirt signed by the Championship Team. The Halloween contest will happen during the intermission. The NTDP has indicated that no member of the visiting “Phantoms” hockey team can win the contest based on its jerseys!

To date NHL teams have drafted 76 NTDP alumni and over 125 players signed National Letters of Intent with Division I colleges. Two coaches have moved on to Division I colleges and one head coach has moved on to the NHL.

The USA Hockey National Team Development Program brings together America’s premier student/athlete hockey players under the age of 18. The NTDP operates year-round by placing emphasis on athletic, academic, and social development in order to allow American hockey players success at the highest levels. The squads compete in domestic and international competition.
