Power Outage Plus Tons of Giving in Summerside

January 20, 2012 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada)
Summerside Storm News Release

(Summerside PE) The Storm finally got a win at home tonight, against the Oshawa Power, in front of a very excited crowd of 3094. Final Score was 129-121.

There was worry early on, but the Storm were able to turn around in the forth quarter. Top performances were seen from Mike Williams with 29 and Stephen McDowell with 25.

It was a busy night of events as well! The game started with special guest, Susan Gordon, VP Marketing for Roger's Communications presenting the game ball along with Susan Rogers, a Breast Cancer survivor. Co-owners Duncan Shaw and Darren MacKay helped to make the evening a generous one. They started off the night announcing they would match donations made by the crowd to the Atlantic Breast Cancer Foundation, which ended up being over $2200. This was apart of the team's Cure On The Court event, an NBL initiative to raise money for Breast Cancer. At half time the pair, along with staff from MRSB, presented a cheque for $4825.00 to PEI Minor Basketball that was raised through a fundraising partnership.
