Rainmen Can't Handle Lightning

London Lightning News Release
It was appropriate that weather dominated the local news stories, because it was the London Lightning hosting the Halifax Rainmen on the court at the John Labatt Centre in front of 3224 fans. These two clubs are the toast of NBL Canada, so it was no surprise that the hotly contested affair produced a 111-94 victory for the Lightning.
"We played very well," explained forward Gabe Freeman. "We were all on the same page in the fourth quarter and although we had some defensive lapses, we played together the entire game and that won it for us."
Ultimately, it was a tale of two halves. A close game out at the break became a blowout early in the 2nd stanza. Gabe Freeman wasn't the only Lightning end- ing the night with a double double, Lightning's Shawn Daniel's finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds. A team effort for the entire four quarters had 6 Light- ning players ending the night in double figures.
London hits the road for the next 10 days. The Lightning do not return to the John Labatt Centre until January 29th against Saint John at 2 pm.
