Glens Falls, NY- The Northern League's Adirondack Lumberjacks announced today that they have signed power-hitting outfielder Juan LeBron. LeBron was originally drafted in the first round (19th overall) by the Kansas City Royals in 1995, and was traded to the New York Mets for 3B Joe Randa in 1998.
As a member of the Binghamton (NY) Mets last season, the 6'4, 195 pound LeBron hit .245 with 18 home runs and 52 RBI's. Juan was recently released by the Mets organization.
A native of Arroyo, PR, LeBron's best season came in 1998 as a member of the Lansing (MI) Lugnuts, when the 24 year old hit .251 with 17 home runs and 84 RBI's while stealing 18 bags.
LeBron is a career .249 hitter, and has hit 58 home runs and has driven in 277 runs in seven years in the minors.
The Lumberjacks return to East Field on Tuesday, June 25 to take on the Elmira Pioneers in the first game of a three game series. All game times are 7 PM, with gates opening at 6 PM.
