New York Power News Release

New York, NY - The New York Power in conjunction with Apple & Eve, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and TJ Maxx will roll-out three community based programs to honor coaches and players in the local area.

"We're excited to have TJ Maxx, LIPA and Apple & Eve on board with the Power to make these community based initiatives a reality," said Power GM Susan Marenoff. "We all share the same view, to help promote community involvement and positive role models for the youth of the area."

The popular TJ Maxx Kid Captain sweepstakes is back for a second year and gives fans ages 8-18 a chance to be introduced on the field with the Power's starting lineup, have their picture taken with the team and get four VIP tickets to the Power game. Entries are available at all New York area participating TJ Maxx stores.

Coach For-A-Day presented by Apple & Eve, gives local coaches the opportunity to shadow new Power head coach Tom Sermanni throughout a New York Power home game. Winners will have unprecedented access as they shadow the coach from the pre-game warm-up and chalk talk, sit along side the coaches on the bench during the match and follow the staff into the post-game press conference. Coaches may be nominated by logging onto nypower.com. Winners will be selected based on the positive influence they have made and their dedication to the sport of soccer.

Hometown Hero, presented by LIPA, will honor local youth soccer players who have shown dedication to community service and will be chosen by the players of the New York Power. Fans can nominate their "hometown hero" by logging onto nypower.com. One winner will be chosen per month to receive an award from a Power player on the field at half-time and will also be featured in a story on nypower.com.

The New York Power is one of eight professional women's soccer teams that make up the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), the world's premier women's soccer league. 2003 New York Power tickets remain the same price as last season ($25, $20, $17) and the addition of a $10 ticket with the use of a 10-ticket voucher "Power Pack". Along with the Power mini-plan packages, there is a flexible, affordable option for everyone. For 2003 ticket information, please contact the Power ticket office at 1-866-POWR-TIX (1-866-769-7849) or by visiting www.nypower.com.
