Houston Dynamo 0-1 Sporting Kansas City

THE RESULT:

- Dropped the Dynamo's record on the season to 7-9-6 overall and 6-3-3 at BBVA Compass Stadium.

- Dropped Houston's record against Sporting Kansas City to 10-7-12 all-time and 0-2-0 this season.

TEAM NOTES:

- The Dynamo were reduced to 10 men when DF Alejandro Fuenmayor was sent off in the 14th minute. It was the fourth time this season that a Dynamo player was sent off and the second consecutive match against Sporting Kansas City and second consecutive home game in which it has happened.

- Houston was issued four red cards in the match (three to players and one to a coach), which is the most in a single match in club history. The previous high was two red cards, which happened twice, most recently on July 16, 2011 - against Sporting Kansas City.

- The Dynamo were shown six yellow cards in the match, which tied the club single-game record set on September 17, 2016 at Real Salt Lake.

- The Dynamo committed fewer fouls than Sporting Kansas City. Houston was whistled for 12 fouls to Sporting's 16.

- The Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City were tied at halftime, 0-0. It was the 10th time this year that Houston was tied at intermission with its opponent, and the Dynamo are now 2-5-3 in those games.

- The Dynamo conceded the first goal of the game when Kansas City scored in the 74th minute. It was the 10th time this season the Dynamo allowed the first goal of the game, and Houston is now 1-6-3 in those matches.

- The Dynamo used their 22nd different starting lineup combination of the season. Head coach Wilmer Cabrera has used 54 different lineup combinations in 56 matches on the Dynamo sideline.

- Joe Willis; Andrew Wenger, Alejandro Fuenmayor, Leonardo, Adam Lundkvist; Boniek García (C), Tomás Martínez, Darwin Cerén; Alberth Elis, Mauro Manotas, Romell Quioto

INDIVIDUAL PLAYER NOTES:

- MF Darwin Cerén made his 12th start with the Dynamo and his 79th MLS regular season start.

- Cerén returned to the starting lineup after being suspended for Houston's last game due to yellow card accumulation.

- FW Alberth Elis made his 48th career appearance and his 39th start.

- DF Alejandro Fuenmayor was sent off in the 14th minute for a foul on Sporting Kansas City MF Gianluca Busio that referee Chris Penso deemed a serious foul.

- Fuenmayor made his 14th start tonight and his 15th appearance of the year.

- Fuenmayor returned to the starting lineup after being suspended for Houston's last game due to yellow card accumulation.

- MF Boniek García made his 12th start and 19th appearance of the year. For his career, it was his 128th start and 159th appearance in MLS regular-season play.

- DF Leonardo made his 14th start of the season and his 43rd start in league play for the Dynamo.

- DF Adam Lundkvist made his seventh start of the season and saw action in his ninth MLS game since joining the club earlier in the year.

- DF Adolfo Machado made his first appearance as a substitute for the Dynamo when he came on for MF Tomás Martínez in the 20th minute following the red card to DF Alejandro Fuenmayor. It was Machado's 48th MLS regular season appearance since joining the club prior to the 2017 season.

- FW Mauro Manotas made his 53rd career start and played in his 85th career game.

- MF Tomás Martínez made his 25th career start and appeared in his 30th MLS game.

- Martínez played his shortest shift since June 2 at Colorado (14 minutes)when he was substituted out of the game in the 20th minute for a tactical change following the red card to DF Alejandro Fuenmayor.

- FW Ronaldo Peña made his Dynamo and MLS debut when he came on for FW Mauro Manotas in the 72nd minute.

- FW Romell Quioto made his 17th start of the season and the 31st of his MLS career.

- DF Andrew Wenger made his 13th start of the season and his 14th appearance.

- GK Joe Willis made his 52nd regular season start with the Dynamo.
