
Portland's win over Yakima clinches one of three playoff spots

YAKIMA, Wash. - Forward Ryan Youngblood scored twice and Jordan Crasilneck tallied a goal and an assist to lead the Timbers U-23s to a 4-2 victory over the Yakima Reds on Saturday night. With the win, Portland clinches one of three playoff spots in the Premier Development League's Northwest Division.
Youngblood, who scored three goals last night, scored his ninth and tenth goal of the season of off assists from Crasilneck and forward Frankie Lopez. Yakima however, rallied back twice to level the score at 2-2 going into halftime.
In the second half, Crasilneck scored the go-ahead goal, his fourth of the season, off of a ball from forward Steven Evans that gave the Timbers a 3-1 lead in the 71st minute. Midfielder Masaki Hemmi scored the final goal of the evening three minutes later to give Portland a 4-2 victory over Yakima.
The Timbers U-23s remain in second place in the Northwest Division and improves their record to 10-3-2 (32 pts). Portland returns home for their final regular season match against the Abbotsford Mariners on July 18, at Lincoln High School in Portland, Ore. At 7 p.m.
Notes: With tonight's two goals Youngblood has scored a team high of 10 goals, with five of those coming this weekend ... Evans recorded his first point of the season from his assist to Crasilneck ... The Timbers U-23s scored eight total goals against Yakima and Spokane this weekend bringing their season total to 38, the most in the division.
