Miami FC to Face USL-1 Champions

Miami FL- Miami FC will face the reigning USL- Champions, the Vancouver White Caps this Sunday at FIU Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6pm. The last time these two teams met, the Blues fell to the Whitecaps on a controversial goal. Vancouver and Miami are currently in the playoff hunt; The Whitecaps are in sixth place and the Blues just one spot below in seventh place. The team continues its home stand, playing the Portland Timbers on Friday, July 17 at FIU Stadium and again on Sunday, July 19 at Tropical Park.

"We've reached a momentous part of our season, and thankfully the boys are playing a lot better," said head coach Zinho. "We are in the middle of an important home-stand and with the team finally coming together I know playing at home will help."

The Blues are coming off a tough draw against the Puerto Rico Islanders. Although Miami had more than enough opportunities to capture three points, Zinho's squad had to settle with only one. Miami has yet to lose at FIU Stadium. They won their first game at "The Cage" beating the 2008 CONCACAF Quarterfinalist, the Montreal Impact, 2-1.

The Whitecaps are coming off a 4-0 win against the Minnesota Thunder, this past Thursday at Swangard Stadium. Martin Nash led the Whitecaps to victory with one goal and one assist. Although Vancouver leads the series, the Whitecaps boast a road record of 1-3-2 and have given up eleven goals on six road games.

FIU Stadium hosted Group A of Gold Cup, Friday, July 11.... Martin Nash is the brother of one time MVP and Phoenix Suns point guard, Steve Nash... Ansu Toure will return to Miami to face his old team. Toure had a short stint with the Blues last season... On March 18, 2009, Vancouver was officially named as a future MLS expansion city, joining the league in 2011.
