Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

The Winterhawks enter play this week with a nine-point lead on the Spokane Chiefs for the final Wild Card spot in the WHL's Western Conference. The Winterhawks will be looking to add some distance between themselves and the Chiefs this week with games against the Vancouver Giants. The Giants won the only meeting between the sides back in December, and the Hawks will start the three-game set against Vancouver with a visit to the Giants on Wednesday.

Caleb Jones scored a highlight-reel goal last weekend against Seattle, and followed that effort up with points against both Tri-City and Everett in the Hawks' two games this past week. Jones is now on a four game point streak, recording two goals and four assists in those four games. Jones, a prospect of the Edmonton Oilers who signed his NHL Entry-Level contract last spring, leads the Winterhawks' defense with 49 points in 53 games this season.

The Hawks' home games this weekend against Vancouver have had their venues and times modified since the start of the season. Friday's contest, originally scheduled for the Moda Center, will be played in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at its originally scheduled time of 7 o'clock. Saturday, meanwhile, the Hawks and Giants will now play at 6 o'clock in the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, a change from the original start time of 2 p.m.

Hawks Happenings Off The Ice:

Friday night's game is the annual Jack-in-the-Box "Smash for Cash". A twist on the classic "Dash for Cash" promotion, fans will now race in both intermissions to compete for the top prize of $1,000 cash. The runner up will receive $750, while third place will get their hands on $500. All fans 18 and older in attendance will have the opportunity to be selected to participate.
