Portland Winterhawks News Release

Hawks Happenings On The Ice:

With three goals in his last four games, Chase De Leo is up to 25 on the season, two behind Oliver Bjorkstrand for the team lead and tying him for sixth overall in the league in that category. His 25 goals are also a career-high, and he's averaging over a point per game with 44 points in 41 games. Last season he posted 56 points in 71 games. De Leo is eligible for this year's NHL Draft.

The Winterhawks will be back to full strength soon enough, with the World Junior Championship over and Taylor Leier, Nic Petan and Derrick Pouliot back in the near future. They were part of the Canadian team that finished fourth in the tournament. Petan and Pouliot each had five points in the tournament, while Leier was held off the scoresheet.

The team is also awaiting word from the Minnesota Wild on whether they will be sending Mathew Dumba back to junior for the remainder of the season. The Hawks acquired Dumba's rights from Red Deer last month. He played in the World Junior Championship and had one assist.

The WHL trade deadline is just days away, as it's set for Friday at 11 a.m. local time.
